Diaspora is a Greek word, meaning scattering like sowing of seeds by a farmer. In the past, the term diaspora referred to dispersed Jewish people, but today it is used broadly to refer to all dispersed people like immigrants, expatriates and refugees.

Diaspora Initiative is a new focus area to serve all kinds of dispersed families and communities worldwide. The migrant population in the world has reached record numbers, and United Nations called 2015 the Year of the Migrant. Parivar launched this initiative to expand the ministry to other immigrant communities around the world.

One of the project under this initiative is working with refugees in different parts of the world. The current refugee crisis in the world is considered as the greatest humanitarian crisis of our times. Parivar’s Diaspora Initiative is helping refugees, training leaders in refugee ministries, researching and networking refugee issues, and mobilizing skilled volunteers to assist.
